Greater Huntington Area Wall of Fame
Annually, the City of Huntington Foundation recognizes up to four individuals who have made signifigant contributions to the greater Huntington area through civic or political achievments, artistic endeavors, athletic accomplishments, and/or acting as an outstanding ambassador for Huntington.  Each autumn, the foundation hosts it's annual "Greater Huntington Wall of Fame" awards dinner to announce new inductees into this special hall of recognition.  Anyone, outside of the foundation's Board of Directors, can submit a nomination for an individual who may be worthy of selection.  Nominations are received until June 30th each year.  Members of the foundation select each year's honorees from nominations received from the community as a whole.  After the awards dinner, brass plaques featuring the names and pictures of the honorees are added to the wall at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.  For submission criteria, please contact the foundation at (304) 696-5522 or click the  following link:

2020 Wall of Fame Inductees
Lawrence Edward Levine
Be it known, that Lawrence (“Larry”) Edward Levine has, on this Fourteenth day of January, 2021 been elected to membership in the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.

Lawrence (“Larry”) Edward Levine (1943-2002) was born on September 12, 1943 in Huntington, the second son of Louis Edward Levine and Lillian (“Lil”) Sarah Levine. Larry graduated from Huntington High School in 1961 and from Marshall University in 1966 with a teaching degree. At Marshall, Larry was a member of the Army ROTC drum and bugle corps and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, for which he was an adviser in the 1990s. Larry was a founding member of, and drummer for, the Collegiates, a popular Huntington-based band in the 1960s. 

 After graduating from Marshall, Larry taught business math at Huntington High School. However, Larry is perhaps best remembered as co-founder and vice president of The Pied Piper, Inc., the Huntington-based musical instrument and audio-video retailer, which he and his brother, Charles (“Chuck”) S. Levine, opened in June 1967. From its humble beginnings at 1035 Fourth Avenue, The Pied Piper would become a Huntington landmark after moving to a 15,000-square-foot Tudor-style building at 1200 Third Avenue in 1976. The Pied Piper grew to five locations in West Virginia and Kentucky and, in 1991, Music Trades magazine ranked the company as the third largest Full-Line American Music Retailer. 

 In 1978, Larry and Chuck Levine helped introduce Huntington to drum and bugle corps competition through Drums Across the Tri-State. Presented annually for 23 years, the show was one of the longest-running competitions sanctioned by Drum Corps International.  

 Larry was a director and past president of the Huntington YMCA and a board member of the Cabell County American Cancer Society. Through the years, Larry helped with toy drives and other philanthropic activities. Larry also served on the board of directors of the Guaranty Bank and Trust Company, the Guaranty National Bank, the Commerce Bank Huntington branch, and the Huntington Bank Huntington branch.
Timothy Scott Milne
Be it known, that Timothy Scott Millne has, on this Fourteenth day of January, 2021 been elected to membership in the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.

Tim was born September 28, 1952 in Port Huron Michigan the son of Robert S. and Leah Gail Millne. In 1970, he graduated from Seaford Senior high school in Seaford, Delaware where he achieved multi-sport honors. After high school Tim moved back to West Virginia, the state he loved. Tim’s dedication to labor unions and his background in construction led to employment with the Laborers’ International Union of North America where he become a part of his union leadership until his retirement. Over the years, he was part of Laborers’ Training, Affiliated Construction trades Foundation, Tri-State Building Trades, WV Laborers’ District Council, SW District Labor Council, and WV AFL-CIO. Tim was active in the community serving on development boards, Cabell County United Way, WV Jobs Investment, City of Huntington Planning Commission, Cabell County Planning Commission and American Red Cross. He developed KID WE CARE Emergency Fund.

Tim’s commitment to his city is only matched by his love for his wife Diana, two sons Andy and Arron Kirtley, two daughters-in-law Rebecca and Julie and grandchildren Hayleigh, Jared, Jon and Taylor.

For his dedication to the success of his local and national organizations, civic pride, volunteerism the City of Huntington Foundation is proud to induct Timothy Scott Millne to the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.
Jane C. Fotos, RN, EdD
Be it known that Jane C. Fotos has, on this Fourteenth day of January, 2021 been elected to membership in the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.

Jane was born in Indiana. After her parents, Marcus and Minnie Chapman moved to Huntington in 1951, she graduated from Huntington High School in 1952. She was married to Michael A. Fotos, Jr. for 66 years and they are the parents of Margo Jane Fotos and Michael A. Fotos, III. Jane received a diploma in nursing from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and BA, MA, RN/BSN degrees from Marshall University. She traveled weekly for two years to earn a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1981 and an EdD in higher education administration from West Virginia University in 1985. Jane began her nurse educator career at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1968 and continued it at Marshall University where she retired as Professor Emeritus in 1999. Jane became Associate Dean of Continuing Education in the Marshall School of Nursing in 1981and traveled to many areas of WV providing education programs for nurses. She chaired the committees that developed the generic BSN and MSN degree programs, served as interim dean, represented the SON on the Faculty Senate and other committees. A long time resident of Huntington, Jane was a leader in civic, church and professional organizations. She was a Girl Scout leader, United Way volunteer, three term board member and President of the Cabell Huntington Health Department, volunteer nurse and board member of Ebenezer Medical Outreach, church moderator, PTA President and member of Woman’s Club of Huntington.

For her dedication to nursing and community service the City of Huntington Foundation, Inc. is honored to include Jane C. Fotos on the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.
Robert K. Smith
Be it known that Robert K. Smith has on this Fourteenth day of January, 2021 been elected to the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.

Bob is “Home Grown.” He was born April 24th, 1938 in Huntington and is the son of Henry Richard Smith and Bernice Fannin Smith. He was married to Patricia Morgan and to Billie Borland both deceased.  Bob's two children are David Scott Smith and Dr. Sherri Catherine Smith. He has two grandchildren, Morgan Joyner and Nicholas Smith and two great grandchildren, Max and Milo Joyner. He has a sister, Lois Merritt and is married to JoAnna Lantz Smith.

He was educated in Huntington's public school system and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech and Journalism from Marshall University in 1961. After graduation he served in the United States Army for 27 years, receiving several awards and commendations including the Joint Service Commendation Medal. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After his active duty, he was hired at WVOW Radio in Logan, West Virginia. His television work began at WHTN-TV (Now WOWK-TV) as a staff announcer and weather forecaster. In 1976 he switched to news as the anchor for the six and eleven o'clock newscasts. In 1986 he moved to WSAZ-TV to co-anchor the same newscasts. He was a founding board member and volunteer for Faith in Action and board member of the City of Huntington Foundation. He has also been an active member of the Gideons, a Bible distribution ministry. He is a member of the Marshall University School of Journalism Hall of Fame, the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame and has been honored by Leadership Tri-State for his community service.

For his dedication for his community the City of Huntington Foundation, Inc. is honored to induct Robert K. Smith to the Greater Huntington Wall of Fame.
